About the "Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program"

About the Program

Appearance of exhibition

In June 2008, Mitsubishi Corporation, as part of its social contribution activities, established the "Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program" to nurture and support the careers of aspiring young artists who wish to become professional artists.

In Japan, students as well as graduates in the field of fine arts generally have few opportunities to exhibit their artwork. Through this program, Mitsubishi Corporation holds an open call for the submission of artwork created by promising young artists and purchases approximately 200 works of art annually, each for ¥100,000. We then hold public auctions in order to sell these works of art and use all of the proceeds to fund scholarships to further foster talented young artists and support their careers.

Through the exhibitions and auctions held so far, young artists have steadily produced promising results. Mitsubishi Corporation will continue this program in fiscal 2010.

About the Auction

Each piece of artwork entered in this auction has been purchased by Mitsubishi Corporation through the "Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program." Bidding for all artwork will begin at ¥10,000 each unless otherwise directed.

Entry items will be exhibited to the public before each auction so that potential buyers can closely view and evaluate the pieces in advance.

About the Scholarship

At the "Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program" other than purchasing artwork for charity auctions, we provide artists' career support through scholarships.

Using proceeds from the charity auctions, an annual scholarship of ¥1,000,000 per person is awarded to 10 persons who agree with the gist of the program and pursue art studies to support their further career advancement.
